Ryan’s Christmas Lights returns for 2022 with a small amount of physical changes and also a new song. The changes relate to some new additions of mini trees and miniature leaping arches to the garden. This year’s new song is an upbeat version of Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.
The first show will be December 3rd, and then nightly between 8:30 and 10:30 pm (unless raining).
Hope you’re all having a great Christmas Day.
PS: 2021 videos of some of the songs have been uploaded to YouTube. You can also watch them via this site’s videos page. Little Drummer Boy is this year’s new song.
PARA HILLS BRASS BAND will visit Ryan’s Christmas Lights 2021 for a local carols evening tomorrow (23 December) between 8:30 pm and about 9:15 pm. They will play through a number of popular carols such as ANGELS WE HAVE ON HIGH, JINGLE BELLS and SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN, just to name a small few. There will be two sets of carols with a 5 minute intermission in-between.
The usual display music will be muted while the band plays. The regular synchronised to music Christmas light show will start after the band has concluded at around 9:15 pm and run until the normal finish time of 10:30 pm.
Also a friendly reminder about possible increased pedestrian traffic. Please take care while driving in the area. Foot traffic tends to ramp up as Christmas Day edges closer.
TL;DR:
Please be advised that tonight’s show may turn off early if a nearby thunderstorm brings rain. The weather radar indicates isolated heavy showers could occur in the area from around 9:30-10pm. The Christmas lights will stay on until 10:30 pm or until the wet weather arrives, whichever happens first.
UPDATE: Just a few short-lived showers up to 10:30, so tonight’s show (17 December) will end at the normal time.
Last night (3 December) the display returned for 2021. The lights will now run until nightly New Year’s Eve, except if raining. I have added a couple of setup photos to the 2021 photos page teasing some of this year’s changes.
Like last year there’s no Mega Tree, but this time there is a chance it could make a reappearance in a week’s time. See what happens.
Ryan’s Christmas Lights 2021 is happening, yay! The plan is to start the show from the 3rd of December.
This year will be a similar size to last year’s scaled down display. But there are some changes to tease:
Good news, Ryan’s Christmas Lights 2020 is now illuminating Salisbury East for the festive season! This year’s smaller display will retain the usual 8:30 to 10:30 pm nightly run times, with December 31 being the last day.
As previously announced, there will be fewer lights in this year’s display. So when will there be any lights illuminating the local neighbourhood? As there is still a bit more setup to do, the displays won’t be operating in time for December 1. Sometime later in the first week of December looks more promising, however!
It’s November. Many of you are probably starting to think about what Christmas will be like, particularly after so many events this year were cancelled due to health concerns. 2020 has been a year of adjustment and doing things differently in a race to stay safe. For reasons unrelated to the pandemic, I am unable to commit to a regular sized lights display for this year. One possible option could have been to not decorate at all, but I also thought that the local area should still have something festive to look forward to with the kind of year that 2020 has been.
So in December 2020 I plan to still have some sort of display, but please understand there will be fewer lights. Think of it as a light at the end of the tunnel, or year, as it were.
