Good news! Tonight’s Christmas lights display is back to normal with all the usual lights running again. It has remarkably cooled down outside into the mid 20s. That’s much more comfortable for anyone who plans to go out looking at all the Christmas lights displays.
Operating Hours
Extreme hot weather and adjusted running times
Due to the extreme heat, tonight’s display will likely not start until after 9 pm with some of the lights unplugged for the whole night. A moment ago at 8 pm, the local outside temperature was still hovering around 40 degrees (C). This is approaching the upper recommended operating conditions for some of the equipment that runs the Christmas lights display.
Tomorrow (Friday) will be another day of extreme heat, however Saturday should be cooler and much more comfortable.
2019 display is now running!
At last, Ryan’s Christmas Lights 2019 is now running! Thanks for your patience. The display will run nightly until New Year’s Eve, between 8:30 and 10:30 pm (unless raining).
2019 display first week of December plans
For anyone wondering, will Ryan’s Christmas Lights be happening this year? The answer to that question is Yes! Please note that the first night for the 2019 display will be a little later this year, most likely sometime during the first week of December. I will create a follow up post once the display is running.
Wet, wintery conditions this Thursday & Friday… lights may be off
Despite it being Summer, Adelaide is rather cold and wet right now and this may affect whether Ryan’s Christmas Lights will run tonight (Thursday). Forecasts suggest these wet conditions will continue into Friday.
2018’s display planned to begin December 2nd
It is busy-busy time here at Ryan’s Christmas Lights setting up the 2018 display! This year’s display should be on nightly from December 2nd (Sunday). Weather forecasts for the 1st predict heavy afternoon showers that may linger into the evening.
Some of this year’s changes are still in the construction phase so may not be put out until after the first week of December.

Happy New Year! It is 2018, and that means that is the end of Ryan’s Christmas Lights for 2017. Boo! I hope you have had a chance to come by and see the show, but if not there will be videos!
Videos of the display are currently being edited, so these are still a little while away before being uploaded to ryanschristmaslights.com/videos/#2017. I will post another update when they are ready to watch.

Merry Christmas to you all, I hope the day was a great one. Although Christmas is almost over, the lights display will continue running from 8:30 to 10:30 pm until December 31. Videos now need to be captured and will hopefully begin to be uploaded before New Years Eve!
The new addition is… colour-changing icicles!
After an extended delay, the new display addition to the show is finally installed and working! What is this addition you ask? Now there are colour changing icicles along the length of the house, and they work nicely with last year’s new roof border!
