In the interest of safety Ryan’s Christmas Lights has been cancelled for tonight (7 December 2015) due to the patchy wet weather. Sorry folks! Fingers crossed tomorrow’s conditions are more favourable.
In other news, I am still working on the new roof outline which I had hoped would be all done by tonight (before the weather change), but it did not work out that way. This new roof outline is now installed but some computer configuration issues are delaying lighting this element up once and for all.
Today is the first day of December – the start of the Christmas lighting season for many – and as promised Ryan’s Christmas Lights 2015 is lighting up Salisbury East! There is still a few things left that need ironing out, including the new roof outline, which I hope to have ready in the next day or two.
The display is now running nightly from 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm until December 31st (rain permitting, of course).
The final night of Ryan’s Christmas Lights 2014 has just come to an end. So sad. But it isn’t forever – there are only 11 months until December comes around once again!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this year’s Christmas light display however you saw it – in person, online, or otherwise.
With 2015 now just 90 minutes away here in South Australia, I’d like to wish everyone a safe and happy new year!
This is Ryan’s Christmas Lights 2014, signing off.
Today’s the day – Christmas Day! I hope you all have had a great day with family, friends celebrating the day however you see fit.
If you have not seen this year’s display yet and would still like to, don’t forget it will continue to run from 8:30 to 10:30 pm right up until New Years Eve.
With yesterday being December 1, Ryan’s Christmas Lights is now operating for 2013, with the initial switch on happening last night. After doubts that the evening might have been wet, the weather cleared up in time that there wasn’t a problem.
It is nearly 2013 this New Years Eve, that means once again it is the end for Ryan’s Christmas Lights for the year. The tear down stage is next on the schedule, but it is never has interesting as the decorating stage in October/November. Happy New Year!
Apologies to anyone who came past tonight, who saw a dark house! There were gremlins in the control system and due to other festive events I was not able to fix it during the show time. But now all looks set once again so the display will be back on as planned from tomorrow (Monday) at 8:30 pm.
On the plus side, some videos and photos are now live on the videos and 2012 gallery respectively. More videos are coming.
The 2012 season for Christmas lights has begun! There were a few spots of rain and the odd clap of thunder earlier, but the weather cleared just in time. As always, the light show running times are 8:30 to 10:30 pm throughout December.
The webcam is up and running during show times for those who want to see the display live. Photos and HD videos will begin to appear in the next few days. So many ways to see the display, but nothing beats seeing it in person (need directions?)
Weather forecasts for December 1 are available and predict that there will be no rain or storms that day. Even better is that temperatures are expected to be in the low to mid 20’s. Perfect conditions to launch the display!
The webcam has been offline for a couple of days but with luck will return this evening.
Well, the days are counting away as December 1 approaches. This time next week, there will be light! At least that is the plan.
Most of the display has been installed, with the testing soon to follow. Not all is finished with the set up stage, however, as some of the new light additions this year ended up being too short. Longer ones are on the way, but the big question is will they arrive in time for December 1st? Time will tell!
Once weather forecasts for December 1st become available, if they suggest a wet start to December then a further blog post will be made. Rain will inevitably delay the initial light up of the display for safety reasons – water and power don’t mix.
